Evalution of the media image of seniors in the town of Čáslav
MATOUŠKOVÁ, Dita
This diploma thesis deals with how old people are presented in the media, and how this media image is then perceived by other age groups. The aim of the work was to find out how the inhabitants of the town of Čáslav evaluate the media image of seniors in society. In the theoretical part of the work I focus on explaining the concepts of aging and old age. Since this work deals with seniors, I consider it an important explanation of the basic concept of senior, and I add to this the sciences that deal with the process of aging and old age, here gerontology and geriatrics. I also mention stereotypes and myths associated with old age. In the next part of the theoretical work, I explain the concepts of media image, mass media, their division and function. I also focused on the description of the current picture of old age in society, as well as on the impact of the media on the public. In the last part of the theoretical work, I described topics related to seniors and the policy of aging. I also describe the active aging of the population and the strategic documents and action plans that relate to aging. To achieve the goal of the work, a quantitative research strategy was used, where the method of data collection was performed by questioning on the basis of their own questionnaire. The research group consisted of residents of the town of Čáslav, in the age range from 18 to 64 years. In total, I received questionnaires from 273 respondents. The obtained data were processed using descriptive statistics in MS Excel, the subsequent evaluation of hypotheses took place in SPSS, where the Chi-square test or goodness-of-fit test was used, and also using frequencies. I believe that this research could open up further opportunities for discussion about depicting the real image of seniors to the lay and professional public. The obtained results could trigger a social debate focused on the ethical aspects of the current modern way in which the media inform about topics related to seniors. Furthermore, the work could help uncover possible new ways of stereotyping and describe whether or not the media support prejudices about a large and growing group of seniors.

JIRSOVÁ, Hana
The aim of this diploma thesis is to track the subjective reasons clients move to a nursing home. The theoretical part is focused on social work with the elderly, the legislative framework of the care service and the offer of assistance for the elderly. One of the chapters is devoted to the needs of old age. Part of the work is devoted to proper communication with the elderly. The end of the theoretical part is devoted to the importance of one's family in the care of the elderly and changes of one's home (moving). A qualitative research strategy was used in the diploma thesis. The research was a field research. The method of data collection was a semi-structured interview. The data were processed using qualitative content analysis and the creation of biographies of research participants. Three groups of respondents from the entire South Bohemian Region took part in the research. The first group consisted of elderly people who live in a home environment and use Home health care. The second group consisted of elderly people who live in a nursing home. The research also included a third group - employees in the care area. The most common reasons for moving to a nursing home were deteriorating health, musculoskeletal pain, frequent pain and falls. Another often mentioned reason was the fear that they could no longer take care of themselves due to reduced self-sufficiency. Most of the elderly people interviewed relied on the help of family and friends. Among the often mentioned reasons was the death of one's spouse and the fact that the family no longer wants or isn't able take care of them. From the point of view of employees, the reason may also be the solution of a housing and financial problem. Only one respondent was strongly dissatisfied with living in a nursing home. The results of the research can serve as feedback and information material for employees of care service.

Social Worker as a Member of the Multidisciplinary Team providing Zootherapy
BERNÁ, Kateřina
The goal of this thesis was to map the possibilities of a social worker´s participation in multidisciplinary zootherapeutics. I was interested in whether the social workers are able to define the multidisciplinary team itself and whether they are able to choose which coworkers in their facilities are placed in such teams. Multidisciplinary team is hugely discussed topic in all fields beginning with health services. The thesis is divided into two parts into the theoretical part and the part dealing with the research. Theoretical part is then divided into next three subparts. In the first one I escribed basic definitions of social work, role and content of social worker´s work according to law n. 108/2006 about social work and specifics of social work with seniors. I devoted the second subpart to the definition and different kinds of zoothereapeutics, to focus groups and to its benefits. In the last subpart I did a summary about all workers who belong into the multidisciplinary team and their activities according to chosen laws. In the research part I tried to map the social worker´s involvement in providing zootherapeutics. I stated two main research questions. In the thesis I used approach based on quality, the method of asking questions and the technique of half structuralized interview. The interview contained 25 opened questions which were supplied by subquestions. The research showed that in the chosen facilities the social worker figures rather as a coordinator of zootherapeutics, communicates with zootherapist, organizes terms and chooses subjects that are suitable for the zootherapeutics. I also found out that the most often used type of zootherapeutics is a group form of dog therapy. The social worker participates during the therapy only minimally because it is mostly organized by the therapist himself / herself. The thesis may be used as a feedback for social facilities using zootherapeutics and also as a source for lectures at the university.
